Your Precious Human Life

Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to have woken up, I am alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it, I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others, to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings, I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry, or think badly about others, I am going to benefit others as much as I can.  — His Holiness the Dalai Lama (from A Precious Human Life Journal)

The robes of a Tibetan Buddhist monastic, such as the Dalai Lama or Pema Chödrön, are distinctly different from those in other types of Buddhism, and usually consist of a shirt, and skirt, and an outer wrap, or zhen, which is draped on the left shoulder, with the right side left bare. While each of the the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism  have their own robes, the predominant colors are burgundy and gold.  For many practitioners, these colors are an immediate reminder of the dharma.

Colored like precious jewels of deep burgundy and gold, our Tibetan Splendor meditation cushions will transform your meditation space while you transform your mind. In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, red is the color of fire and connotes the transformation of desire and attachment into discriminating wisdom. Yellow, the color of the earth, symbolizes groundedness and equanimity. It represents the transmutation of pride and self-importance into the wisdom of equality.
