In Sanskrit, Rasa means "essence" or "nectar". This abstract concept refers to the emotions that we experience in our daily lives yet cannot describe.

This Rasa Ayurvedic Body Oil stimulates collagen production and improves elasticity by moisturizing and soothing the skin. It is specially designed for use during abhyanga, a type of Ayurvedic Massage.

Featured Ingredients

Plant Oils:
  • Hemp - Softens skin while decreasing inflammation. Rich in omega fatty acids and vitamins A, B, D, and E.
  • Sweet Almond - Commonly used Ayurveda oil that is nourishing but not heavy. Rich in vitamins A & E.
    Ayurvedic Herbs:
    • Ashwagandha -  An anti-inflammatory and antioxidant-rich adaptogen herb (stabilizer).
    • Bala - Aids nervous system, muscles, and joints. An effective oil for glowing skin.
      Essential Oils:
      • Lavender - Aids skin moisture barrier. A beloved calming essential oil.
      • Frankincense - Using frankincense on skin helps to soothe and strengthen.
      • Copaiba - One of the most powerful anti inflammatory essential oils.

How to use: For nourished, glowing skin, massage oil over entire body after shower or bath. Best when used on damp skin. Add to a warm bath for an enriching, luxurious soak.

How to perform an Abhyanga oil massage on yourself:

        1. (Optional) Begin by dry-brushing to remove dead skin. Brush in long strokes, moving towards your heart.

        2. Warm a small amount of oil in a bowl by setting it in a pan of hot water.

        3. Gently but firmly massage your whole body, using long strokes on limbs, and circular motions on joints. Make sure you don't forget your feet, ears, and scalp (our Rasa Ayurvedic Hair Oil is even better for the scalp!).

        4. Sit for 5-20 minutes to allow the oil to penetrate. Take this time for meditation or breathing exercises.

        5. Take a warm shower to remove excess oil. (Be sure to wash your feet first so you don't slip!) Use soap only where needed, but  just rinse your body otherwise, as to not fully remove the oil. Make sure to pat dry with a towel, but don't rub. You may want to reserve a special towel for these days, as the oil will build up.

        6. Perform Abhyanga at least 2-3 times a week. Developing a regular practice will increase circulation, improve the texture of your skin, and even help calm your nerves to help you sleep.

Please note: Abhyanga is not recommended while pregnant, menstruating, after a heavy meal, or for certain medical conditions. Consult your doctor first.
