This statue of Shakyamuni Buddha is based on a carving of a Burmese Buddha in the Mandalay style. It depicts the Buddha as he performs the "bhūmisparśa" or "earth witness mudra". This hand gesture calls upon the earth itself to witness his Awakening. Mudras are symbolic hand gestures that appear in yoga, traditional dances and ceremonies, and meditation practices.

Material: Lava stone sand from the sacred volcano Gunung Agung on Bali, bonded with concrete. The color is a water based eco paint suitable for outside. The finish will change slowly over time with exposure to rain and sun.
