Homage to her, the swift heroine Tara,
Eyes like flashing lightning;
She who is born from the stamens of a lotus blossom
Arising from the Protector of the Three Realms' face.
— from The Twenty-one Praises of Tara ( stanza #1)
Red Tara's name is Praviratara, This Tara is invoked when we are attacked by internal or external negative forces. Her main activity is to empower us; she is the Tara to call upon when we need to be strong. Red Tara's mantra is om tare tuttare ture vasham kuru svaha. The iconography of the Tara in this giclee thangka print comes from the tradition of Atisha (982-1054 AD), the great Indian master who reintroduced the practice of Tara in Tibet during the 11th century.
This museum quality giclee print is a fine art reproduction of an original thangka painting by the official artist of the Sakya Trizin. Perfect in iconographical detail, it is printed onto acid-free, heavy watercolor paper with archival ink. The iris giclee process renders the highest degree of accuracy and richness of color available through reproduction. The resulting print is an art form in itself and offers buyers a reasonable alternative to purchasing an original thangka painting.
