Our Indo-Asian style garden statue depicts Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion, resting in the posture of royal ease. This bodhisattva assumed many forms in Buddhist art as Buddhism traveled across the Asian continent. Originating in India as a male bodhisattva, Avalokiteshvara gradually transformed into the female bodhisattva known as Kuan Yin during the 10^th century in China. In Tibet, this bodhisattva is known as Chenrezig. Hand cast of design resin with rust-like patina that becomes more beautiful as it weathers.
