Kuan Yin is the female form of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. Her name means "she who hears the cries of the world". She is the Buddhist equivalent of a saint, and is often referred to as the goddess of mercy.
In this elegant statue, Quan Yin sits meditating atop a lotus throne while performing the cosmic mudra (Dhyana mudra), a powerful gesture that centers energy flow to deepen meditative concentration.
